Cities to Travel to For a Weekend Escape

If you’re like millions of others around the country these days, you could use a little time to relax, decompress, and enjoy yourself. Unfortunately, that’s next to impossible since there are an array of things to take care of at home.

Unless you take the time for a getaway that is.

While the expense, time off work, and overall stress associated with a full vacation may not be attractive or even doable right now, a weekend escape could be exactly what you need. But where should you go?

Well, get ready to turn off that modded version of Clash of Clans, your Twitter feed, and whatever else may have been filling your downtime lately, and get ready to get out of town because we’ve got seven cities that are perfect for traveling to for a weekend escape.

Before diving into the list, we’d like to emphasize that you don’t have to have a lot of extra money on hand or be inherently wealthy in order to fly somewhere new. There are airlines and some great websites out there where you can find cheap flights from Buffalo, Dallas, San Francisco, Chicago, and just about anywhere you need to fly out of.

So, grab your favorite neck pillow, pack your bags, and visit one of the following destinations.

1. Miami, Florida

If nice weather and a lively weekend with your significant other sounds perfect, this is the destination for you. You can spend the day on the beach, and at night you can enjoy some of the Cuban culture and bright colors. Be sure to wear your dancing shoes because there is plenty of great music and clubs open until the early morning hours.

2. San Antonio, Texas

This city has a canal that runs through downtown where there are markets, restaurants of virtually every type, bars, plenty of music, and more. You can also take a ride around the canal to spot the places you want to visit.

3. New England

New Egland is beautiful area that provides you with numerous options that are made for road trips by car and are perfect for a relaxing weekend. For an extra special treat, take your trip in the fall months for a getaway full of bright autumn foliage to remember.

Tip: If you’re renting a car, make sure to get car insurance! You don’t want to travel without extra protection.

4. Savannah, Georgia

This historic city looks like it’s straight out of a storybook. Wispy Spanish moss dangling from every tree, the stunning Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and the picturesque Forsyth Park couple with the nightlife on River Street make this an excellent weekend getaway.

5. Portland, Oregon

Get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature and check out the hiking and biking trails of Forest Park’s thousands of acres. Independent breweries, a bustling food scene, and the Portland Saturday Market are also fun destinations to check out.

6. New Orleans, Louisiana

Whether you’re into bustling nightlife, want to relax and visit historic places, or check out all the “strange” sites the city has to offer, this is one-weekend destination that you’re sure to enjoy.

7. Nashville, Tennessee

With plenty of live shows and distilleries, Nashville is the perfect destination for country music and whiskey lovers alike. There are also numerous museums, parks, and gardens that are great for outdoor fun. Plus, there’s plenty of pork barbecue, traditional southern dishes, and other great food to experience.

It’s important to make an effort to de-stress and avoid streaming services for a bit, especially if you’ve experienced a trying time of late. Visit a new city, explore what it has to offer, relax in a nice hotel, and just get away from the house. Trust us;  you’ll be glad you did!
